A Granola Bar and Pack of Gum

I am so grateful for kind people. I work as a computer lab assistant on my university's campus. One day a lady came in and asked for my help with scanning and emailing some documents. I had helped her once before and she tried to give me a granola bar. I refused many times until she pleaded for me to just take it and insisted that it was for me.
She came in again today with the same request. I recognized her and because of the kindness she showed, not just by the granola bar but by her kind words and gratitude, I was excited to help her again. I helped her send the documents then promptly left her side so she could not give me another granola bar. I went back to my desk and resumed my work on my computer. Next thing I knew, a hand came into view with a pack of gum in it. I looked up to see who the hand belonged to. Sure enough it was that same sweet lady, Delfina.

I don't care about the granola bar or gum. That's not what made me so happy. It's what giving those things to me MEANT and Delfina's kindness that made me happy. We all express gratitude in different ways. I was touched by Delfina's expression of gratitude (in this case the granola bar and gum) and her insistence on sacrificing and giving those things to me to show that she was grateful.

Now I know this is a stretch, but bear with me.

Just as Delfina sacrificed those things for me to show her gratitude, we can show our gratitude to our savior and heavenly father by the sacrifices we make. It doesn't have to be big. By doing things like choosing not to watch that T.V. show that may be a little inappropriate, choosing to serve your roommates by sweeping the floor or doing the dishes, or spending a half an hour of your time reading your scriptures, you are showing to your Heavenly Father that you care about him, you care about what he thinks and says, and that you care about what he thinks of you.

I had a dream last night...

...that me and two of my roommates got free tickets to a theme park close by. It's cold this time of year where I am so naturally I had to bring 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of shorts so that I would have options as to what to wear that would best match the weather. It was pretty warm so I decided to wear shorts. My roommates were waiting on me but I saw that they were wearing jeans and not shorts and I decided that was smart because it would get colder later. I went back to the locker I conveniently happened to have and changed to jeans. I caught up with my roommates then decided that I didn't like the way I looked in the jeans I was wearing, so I went back to change into the other pair. I put them on and I liked them better, but they were looser than I had remembered. That meant I'd lost weight... Score! I caught up to my roommates again and we started to have some fun. As I was on a ride I remembered that I forgot about work and class! Class... no big deal. Work... Crap. I borrowed my roommate's smart phone to put my next few hours that I had not yet missed up for sub, crossed my fingers that someone would take them, and that the hours I had already missed would not prevent me from getting promoted.
